You know how much time I spend with my head stuck in engine bays, and I know that if you’re reading this column, then you’re much the same. There’s one thing you can be sure of when you’re working on anything to do with your 4WD – you and your pride and joy are gonna get dirty. Oil is the lifeblood of any engine, but it leaves one hell of a mess.
It’s a good idea to have a fast, easy-to-use cleaner handy for any mechanical situation. It doesn’t matter if I’m on the road or in the workshop, I’ve found Liqui-Moly’s Rapid Brake and Parts Cleaner is a seriously good product.
This multi-purpose cleaner completely removes oil, grease, grime and resin fast and without a trace. This is unlike most other cleaners that leave an oily residue that often needs to be removed after the cleaning process. This means it’s totally safe to use on braking systems and clutch assemblies.
Half the reason I keep this product on hand, however, is because of its versatility. It’s not just the best thing for parts and mechanical applications, but can be used to remove oil splashes and residues from flooring and clothing. Let’s face it, it’s a rare occasion when you don’t splash a bit of oil on the floor of the workshop or on your clothes when you’re draining a sump. But since I started keeping a can of this stuff on hand, it’s become an easy-to-fix problem. Its spray-on wipe-off application process makes it easy to use as well being a real time saver, as it works quick.
As the name suggests, it’s also a simple and safe product to use on your brakes. The fact that it doesn’t leave an oily residue like other cleaners means that it’s a simple process of spraying it on, and wiping off the grime. It’s also a much safer method of cleaning your brakes than using a blower, as you don’t get all those nasty brake-pad particles flying about and getting sucked into your lungs.
All in all, Liqui-Moly’s Rapid Brake and Parts Cleaner is a simple, convenient and effective product, and I’d recommend it to anyone as a multi-use cleaner to be kept on the shelf of the garage or workshop, and even in the back of the 4WD.
